Just over a week ago, we were telling you about Mura Masa’s romantic EDM tune ‘SOUL M8S’ and the production wizard is already back with another loved-up track, ‘Second 2 None’. It’s rather beautiful, with soft-edged beats shuffling up alongside each other in a reggaeton-style rhythm, plus a steel drum melody and clipped, sliced and re-arranged vocal samples. However, what should really make you sit up and listen is the appearance of a certain French icon, Christine and the Queens, whose understated vocal slips in perfectly with Alex Crossan’s chilled beatwork. Not only is it another addition to Mura Masa’s feature filled album, due out next month, but Héloïse Letissier has also dropped the hint that she’s planning the next chapter to Chaleur Humaine. This could very well be a stunning year for new music with these left-field leviathans on our radar. - HT
